About Us
Get to know the team at Naomi Ash Voice Studios and how we work
Hello! My name is Naomi Ash and I'm so pleased you've found our little corner of the world. I have been teaching singing for 15 years in 2024 but only really started feeling like I was running a 'singing school' after 10 years, in 2019 when I started putting on recitals with my students. We now hold three recitals a year and the last one had to be split into four in order to fit everyone in as the school now has over 40 students.
I am a wife, a mum of two very little ones (who both happen to be Type 1 diabetic - as am I) and I also run Faversham Musical Theatre Choir and work for Miss Sophie's Dance Academy.
At the time of writing, Naomi Ash Voice Studios has grown from being just me, Naomi, to a five person strong team. Alice Brown joined the school in September 2023 after I needed to take a small step back due to the increasing demands of having two Type 1 diabetic children, and Elodie Miles-Inge joined the team in February 2024 as demand for singing lessons from the people of Faversham kept growing. Jack Thomson soon came along to mop up the remaining demand and over the summer of 2024, the requests kept flooding in, so Hannah Kingsford has stepped in to fill in the last remaining day that the school wasn't initially open. Since then, Elodie has moved on and been replaced by my fabulous sister, Sophie Ash and the latest addition to the teaching team is Nadya, who is brilliant! Alongside the fabulous teaching team, I also have the wonderful Emily T running the school's social media, which has been a huge factor in getting word out there that we are here and the biggest singing school in Faversham. At the time of writing, Alice, Hannah, Nadya and myself make up the teaching team, with Emily being a massive support.

My personal teaching style is most likely born out of the influence my singing teachers have had on me over the years, starting with taking lessons myself from the age of 11 at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, through to singing classes at TheatreTrain and Phoenix Performing Arts, both in Canterbury, but the best input I had came from my teachers at Guildford School of Acting.

Whilst their approach was heavily Estill focussed and my voice thrived on that coaching, I enjoy teaching from a variety of methods and am learning new things about the voice and teaching singing every day.

How advanced you or your child are will determine how in depth we go. We don't want to scare anyone on their first lesson!

We always spend time relaxing, breathing, making sure our posture is correct and warming up at the beginning of each lesson before moving on to whatever material you or I would like us to work on. Each of my teacher's approach is very similar as I work with them to make sure we are working in similar ways with each of the students who come through the school.

Your goals are important to us. If you'd like to work towards a performance or audition, get stronger so you can perhaps lead worship more confidently or simply have fun and improve as a happy result of that, then we're happy to come with you on that or any other journey you wish to go on with your voice.
Meet The Team
Naomi Ash
Principal Teacher - Singing, Music Theory, Acting Through Song, Public Speaking
Upon graduating from Guildford School of Acting in 2013, having absolutely loved the three year degree course, Naomi enjoyed success in a small number of professional shows. But fairly soon she felt called to engaging in creating shows for charitable causes in her local area as well as enjoying her new marriage and coaching in local stage schools, so teaching became her bread and butter and something she quickly fell in love with. Naomi has had the privilege of being Musical Director for many high quality local shows and having also completed her dance teaching qualification under the IDTA in 2008, she now teaches all three disciples (dance, drama and singing) at varying levels and to varying ages.

Although she took a break from this being my full time occupation in 2015 to become a Children and Families Minister at a church in Whitstable, Naomi kept on a few of her singing students, also keeping up her professional knowledge and performance skills.
​
Leaving that job in 2019, having had a baby, Naomi decided to go back to performing arts teaching and has found herself teaching singing privately in more hours of the week than anything else, which she finds an absolute joy. If she hasn't already, she looks forward to meeting you!
Alice brown
Associate Teacher - Singing
Alice has always had a love of singing, performing and live theatre. From a young age, trips to the theatre were a huge part of her life, and she began taking part in group singing at just 8 years old. When she started secondary school, Alice began 1:1 singing lessons, which she continued throughout her school years and into her professional training at Centre Performing Arts College.
Alice trained in Musical Theatre and Teaching at Centre Performing Arts College, where she was fortunate to be taught by a variety of professional performers and industry professionals. Throughout her training, she had taken part in a wide range of performances, developing her skills and experience both on and off stage as well as teaching group singing lessons at the weekend.
Alongside her performance background, Alice has extensive experience teaching children and young people and holds teaching qualifications with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). She also has a strong interest in inclusive teaching. Having previously worked as an SEN Coordinator, she has completed additional CPD in autism, inclusive practice and childhood ACEs, as well as holding a Mental Health First Aid certificate. She is passionate about helping students develop their vocal technique, confidence and individuality, while creating a fun and supportive environment where they can enjoy performing
Alice has now worked for Naomi Ash Voice Studios for three years and has loved being part of the studio. During this time, she has had the opportunity to take part in a variety of CPD, observe Naomi’s lessons and have Naomi observe her own teaching. This has been a fantastic opportunity to widen knowledge, share ideas and continually develop her teaching practice.

Associate Teacher - Singing
Hello, I am Nadya – I was born and raised in Bulgaria where I studied in a classical music school until the age of 19 playing both piano and accordion. After graduating I pursued my passion for contemporary pop and rock singing whilst I continued my education in the Sofia University St Climent Ohridski.
I had an opportunity to teach music and accordion at a primary school for a year and take part in various concerts during my years in Sofia as well as working as a backing vocalist on a national tour for a well-known artist in the early 2000s. I have experience in working as a lead singer in a band and In early 2003 I had an opportunity to travel with a band for a yearlong contract in Southeast Asia and that’s where my music career took a break after I met someone special. The only downside to this was that I had a very long pause from live music performances. We started our family, and life took a different turn for a while.
For the last few years, I have slowly found my way back to music, performing and even teaching. I had the opportunity to perform in most of the Sound of Musicals productions in Faversham which have re-ignited my love for Musical Theatre. The variety of genres and styles that musical theatre has to offer is amazing and there is always a song for anyone. I have a regular guest appearance slot with the Blues Bandits and I take part in their annual fundraiser event as a guest singer.
I have been teaching at my home for the past 2+ years and have discovered my passion for helping students discover their abilities and building their singing and performing confidence. I am very excited to join Miss Naomi’s Singing School, just as excited as I have been all the times we’ve sung together in the Sound of Musicals!
SJ Martin
Associate Teacher - Singing & Music Theory
SJ has been passionate about singing from an early age, a love that flourished during her years with the Warwickshire County Youth Chorale and continued to grow as a member of her university chapel choir and Gilbert and Sullivan society. She holds ABRSM Grade 6 in Singing (currently working towards Grade 8), Grade 5 Music Theory, and has also achieved ABRSM Grade 4 Clarinet.
A qualified secondary school teacher with 17 years of experience, SJ has always championed the performing arts, involving herself in choirs, orchestras and teaching key stage 3 music. SJ has established and led a successful secondary school choir, creating opportunities for young people to grow in confidence and share their talents.
Her performance background includes playing Cosette in her sixth form production of Les Misérables, taking the lead in her university’s production of HMS “Starship” Pinafore, and singing with the University of St Andrews Chapel Choir at a variety of events. Whilst dedicating the past 11 years to raising her two daughters and baby son, SJ has continued to sing, regularly leading sung worship at her local church.
SJ is delighted to be part of the NAVs family and looks forward to meeting new faces and inspiring and encouraging them in their love of singing, helping them to achieve their full potential.

Social Media Co-ordinator & Group class assistant
Emily has been a student at NAVS since 2022.
She has a lot of performing experience including playing Miss Honey in Matilda Jnr, Gabriella in High School Musical Jnr & even Fagin in Oliver! Jnr and has supported as many NAVS events as possible, performing multiple times over the years.
Emily will be the group class assistant from September 2025 and Naomi is very grateful for the social media support she is giving the school.
